Coffered Ceiling Kitchen
White shaker cabinetry against a charcoal island and coffered ceiling, opening directly onto a covered patio.
This kitchen runs a deliberate two-tone scheme: perimeter cabinetry in white shaker carried up to the ceiling, set against a charcoal island and a coffered ceiling in the same dark tone. Keeping the dark elements overhead and at the centre lets the room stay bright while still having weight to it.
The full-height sliding glass door on the adjacent wall was the constraint that shaped the layout. All tall storage and appliances were pushed to the opposite run so nothing blocks the light or the route out to the patio.
What went into it
- White shaker cabinetry carried to ceiling height, eliminating the dust ledge above wall cabinets
- Charcoal island with granite top and seating for two
- Coffered ceiling in charcoal with a white grid, carrying the island colour overhead
- Stacked stainless double wall ovens, keeping the cooktop clear on the island
- Patterned glass and stone mosaic backsplash run the full height beneath the wall cabinets
- Matte black gooseneck faucet and hardware tying to the black drum pendants
- Wide-plank light oak flooring continued through the adjacent living space
