What building in Sandy actually involves

Sandy is one of the larger cities in Salt Lake County and spans an unusually wide range of housing — small historic homes near the old town centre, sprawling 1990s and 2000s subdivisions on the east bench, and everything between.

The most common request here comes from the newer end of that range: large houses with plenty of square footage, a good chunk of it unfinished, and builder-grade finishes that have reached their limit.

Is finishing the basement worth it in Sandy?
A great many Sandy homes were sold with the basement left unfinished. That space is the cheapest square footage the house will ever gain, and it is the single most common project we are asked about in this city.
My kitchen is original 1990s — replace it or refresh it?
Subdivision homes from the 1990s and 2000s are hitting the point where original cabinetry, counters and bathrooms are worn rather than merely dated. The layouts are usually sound, so the work is finish-led and predictable.
Does living on the east bench change anything?
Properties climbing toward Little Cottonwood sit on steeper ground with heavier snow loads than the western half of the city. Two houses in the same city can have meaningfully different structural inputs.
Do I need a permit for this in Sandy?
Anything structural, electrical, mechanical or plumbing does. Sandy issues its own building permits through its building division, and we prepare the submittal, book the inspections and carry the job through to final sign-off — you are not left managing that yourself.
