Primary Bathroom in Lehi
A walk-in shower with twin rain heads, a freestanding black bath, and a double vanity set against a black marble-look wall.
The room runs on a single decision: one heavily veined black tile on the vanity wall, and a quiet grey on everything else. Confining the drama to one plane is what lets the black bath, the black tapware and the lit mirror read as one idea rather than as four things competing for the same room.
The shower is where the work actually is. Two rain heads and a handshower on one enclosure is a supply question before it is a styling one — the valve has to be sized for what happens when more than one of them is open. The drain is linear and sits against the back wall, which means the floor falls in a single plane rather than in four planes meeting at a centre point. It is flatter underfoot and it is considerably less forgiving to set, because a single long fall shows any deviation along its whole length.
The niches are stacked on one wall and lined with the same black pebble as the shower floor, so the recesses read as part of the floor rather than as two holes punched in the tile. The bench beside them is cantilevered off the wall with a mitred edge, which keeps the floor continuous underneath it — easier to clean, and it stops the bench reading as a block dropped into the corner.
What went into it
- Walk-in shower behind frameless glass, with a low tiled curb and a full-height fixed return panel
- Two rain shower heads and a handshower on a slide bar, run from a digital control set outside the spray
- Linear drain against the back wall, so the shower floor falls in one plane instead of four
- Two stacked niches lined with black pebble mosaic, picking up the shower floor rather than the walls
- Floating tiled bench with a mitred edge, cantilevered so the floor runs continuously beneath it
- Black pebble mosaic shower floor set against large-format grey marble-look walls
- Freestanding slipper bath in gloss black, served by a floor-mounted filler with handshower
- Double vanity in near-black shaker cabinetry with a light quartz top and twin undermount basins
- Black marble-look large-format tile carried up the vanity wall to the vaulted ceiling, and repeated as the backsplash
- Backlit LED mirror sized to the full vanity, under a black multi-light bar with clear glass shades
- White plantation shutters throughout, with the window trim picked out in black
